Welcome to the Stratford Country Club

The Stratford Country Club is a shareholder-owned club that traces its beginnings back to 1896 when William Maynard began golfing in the open fields north of the Avon River.  The present club was chartered in November 1913 with 50 original shareholders.  We opened 9 holes of golf, 6 of which remain in play today.  An additional 9 holes were designed by Canadian legend Al Balding and added in 1970.

The Curling Rink was built in 1959 with 4 sheets of ice.  The curling membership is quite active, and includes Little Rockers and Junior programs, as well as men's, ladies and mixed (competitive and social) leagues throughout the week.  The Club hosts bonspiels for service clubs and charities throughout the winter, and is also home to Stratford's Ontario Special Olympics Curling teams.  November 2007 marked the Grand Re-opening of the Curling Rink after one year of intense fundraising as part of the Rink Renewal Campaign.  The Curling Club is looking forward to hosting the Rotary Can-Am Bonspiel in January 2009.

The Squash Courts were built in 1979 by 40 original members.  It was their foresight that gave us 2 beautiful international Squash Courts to play on.  Currently there are over 140 active squash members participating in monthly ladder matches as well as social and competitive squash events, such as the Annual 24 Hour Squash Marathon to benefit the Stratford General Hospital Foundation.  To date this event has raised over $175,000 in seven years.

Today the Stratford Country Club boasts a membership of more than 800 golf, curling, and squash members.
